Kimberly Benoit, of Shelton, was spotted by an officer around 1:30 a.m. Friday traveling north on Riverside Avenue.
According to police, Benoit was driving erratically and nearly struck several parked cars. Once stopped, officers could detect a strong odor of alcohol and she was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed, Westport police said.
She was placed under arrest and brought to headquarters where a breath test found her to be above the legal limit. Benoit was charged with DWI and failure to drive in proper lane.
She was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16
